Halfway Farm
Halfway Farm, Eashing, Surrey
Client: Mr. P Stovold & Fitzpatrick Referrals Ltd
Client Brief
Bakersgate Developments had been successfully employed by Mr P. Stovold, who is a local farmer, for the management of a barn conversion on his estate. Having completed this conversion project the Client entered into a joint venture with specialist veterinary surgeons Fitzpatrick Referrals.
This partnership had identified an opportunity to redevelop a cluster of disused barns into a state of the art and world leading veterinary centre.
To date 3 barns totalling 18,000 ft2 have been converted to provide 3 operating theatres, MRI scanning, CT scanning, hydro therapy pool, lecture theatre and associated kennelling and care facilities all located in the heart of the Surrey countryside.
Why Bakersgate Developments?
The joint venture involved a farmer and a specialist veterinary surgeon, therefore there was a requirement for a project manager to assist with the organisation of the project team and the two Clients to ensure that the objectives of both parties were met.
Project Summary:
It is essential with any joint venture to ensure that each party clearly states their requirements and understands the requirements of the other party. This will often involve detailed and often fraught negotiations which need a consistent and reliable ‘middleman’ and this role was provided by Bakersgate Developments.
In addition to our Client co-ordination role, Bakersgate Developments worked with the project team to develop the product to suit the specialist requirements of the Client. This type of facility had not previously been built in the UK and therefore Bakersgate Developments and the Architect, BBF Fielding, went to three sites in the USA to establish how these facilities have been built and run in America.
Fitzpatrick Referrals opened the new veterinary facility in Eashing, Surrey.
